This gallery pulls fresh cat photographs live from two free open image services β€” The Cat API and Cataas β€” so you see different cats on every visit. Tap any photo to view it full size.

Use the tabs to switch image sources or to find cat communities on Facebook. An internet connection is needed to load photos.

How the cat photo gallery works

Rather than storing images on this site, the gallery requests them at the moment you open the page. Each tab calls a different free image service:

  • Cat Photos β€” pulls a batch of random images from The Cat API.
  • More Cats β€” pulls additional portraits from the Cataas (Cat as a Service) project.
  • Facebook β€” links out to established cat charities, communities, and breed groups.

Because the photos are fetched live, the "Load More Photos" button simply requests another batch β€” and every visit shows a different set of cats.

Frequently asked questions about the gallery

Where do the gallery photos come from?

Photos are loaded live from The Cat API and Cataas, two free open cat-image services. Because they are fetched fresh each visit, the gallery shows different cats every time you open it.

Can I use the cat photos from this gallery?

The images are served by third-party APIs and remain subject to their licences. For any reuse, check the licensing terms of The Cat API or Cataas rather than assuming the photos are free to republish.

Why won't the gallery load?

The gallery fetches photos over the internet, so it needs an active connection. If images do not appear, check your connection or try the other photo tab; the page itself still works offline.

How do I see a photo full size?

Click or tap any photo to open it in a full-screen lightbox viewer. Press the Escape key or click outside the image to close it again.
